The Nike AF-1 Type (Air Force 1 Type) is part of Nike¡¯s N354 family that pays homage to long-distance runner Steve Prefontaine¡¯s fastest recorded mile. An Olympian in 1972, Prefontaine set world records while competing with the renowned Oregon Track Club during training for the 1976 Olympics. He is widely considered a leading influence of the 1970¡¯s-era running boom. As for this debut colorway of the AF-1 Type, exposed contrast gold stitching sits atop a black leather upper with translucent medial panels, while a foam-padded black tongue, heel strap with pink overlays, and white midsole outfit the rest of the sneaker.
